He has over a decade of experience in media development and journalistic work, which has led various programs and projects promoting freedom of expression and access to information in Zimbabwe and Southern Africa. As part of this leadership in media freedom, Nigel is the current Zimbabwe National Facilitator of an International Training Program (ITP) on media regulation. He is a former Programs Manager at the Zimbabwe Union of Journalists (ZUJ) and has practiced journalism. In the broader civic space, Nigel sits on the Heads of Civic Society Organizations Coalitions, a platform for information sharing and joint advocacy for civics. He earned his Media and International Relations academic qualifications from the University of Witwatersrand in South Africa. Further to academic qualifications, he has completed mid-career programs including Project Management done with the US Aid through PACT and Conflict-sensitive journalism completed at Rhodes University, South Africa.
